Global Switch Opens Europe’s first liquid cooling showcase in London

London, 16 June 2025 – Global Switch has opened the doors to a complete suite of the latest liquid cooling technologies, capable of meeting the demands of the most powerful AI and high-performance computing (HPC) ecosystem workloads. It is the only showcase of its kind present in Europe today.

Delivered in partnership with six of the world’s leading digital infrastructure suppliers, the suite includes four live cutting-edge liquid cooling solutions, including direct-to-chip and immersion cooling. Industry leaders Liquidstack and SuperMicro are among the partners taking part in the showcase.

It follows the roll-out of liquid cooling capabilities in Global Switch Hong Kong last year, with liquid cooling options now available across the breadth of Global Switch’s international data centre portfolio.

Liquid cooling is capable of meeting the most demanding requirements of today’s AI and HPC customers. It enables the most powerful chips to operate with greater efficiency and at higher densities, reducing energy consumption and benefitting both customers and the environment.

The showcase follows last month’s news that all Global Switch’s European data centres have been approved to be participants in the European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres. This voluntary initiative, established by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, seeks to improve energy efficiency in data centres by encouraging best practices and, in doing so, reduces environmental impact.

According to the latest figures from analysts Dealroom and the Mayor’s growth agency London & Partners, London-based AI start-ups raised a record £2.9 billion in 2024, with a further £770 million raised in Q1 2025 alone. As a result of this demand, London’s data centre market – already Europe’s largest – is expected to double in 2025/26. However, due to space and power limitations, few operators are going to be able to accommodate such a boom in low latency central city locations.

Located in London’s Docklands, Global Switch’s London data centres – including the repurposed former Financial Times printing press – benefit from irreplicable proximity and connectivity to key business centres, and the flexibility of the infrastructure means that Global Switch can serve the whole breadth of the market.

Last year, CoreWeave selected Global Switch to host Europe’s largest deployment of NVIDIA H100 and H200 GPUs. This highlights Global Switch’s unique combination of scale, design flexibility, and technical expertise, reinforcing its ability to attract leading AI businesses to the heart of the UK and support the government’s ambitious AI Opportunities Action Plan.

In 2024, Global Switch’s London South development received full planning approval, with designs that also include liquid cooling optionality. The London Campus has access to 224MVA of secured power, despite London’s widespread grid constraints, with the other existing data centres within the campus set for densification as part of Global Switch’s international program of development and expansion.

Ashley Muldoon, Global Switch CEO, said: “Across all our data centres worldwide, we are offering customers an opportunity to benefit from truly flexible infrastructure – including a complete suite of liquid cooling options. Densification is the key to unlocking the potential of the most advanced AI and HPC workloads, and continues to sit at the heart of our investment plans.”

Adam Eaton, Executive Group Director, Europe, at Global Switch, added: “Our London Campus is at the forefront of data centre technological innovation, not just in London but across the world. Liquid cooling technologies will enable us to capture the significant growth expected in this market, meeting the vital digital infrastructure needs of the city’s most innovative businesses.”
